The formation of the material basis for the development of sacred music, including organ music, in Russia is a separate direction of the cultural and educational activity of 'De Boni Arte' Charitable Foundation. By saying 'the material basis' we mean the activities we undertake in order to publish textbooks and research materials in the sphere of Western church music and to print the scores and issue audio recordings of sacred music.
The work for the Course of Western Church Music involves translation and web-publication of a number of fundamental non-Russian research materials, such as the “Gregorian Semiology” by Dom E. Cardin, a course of lectures on modality by the outstanding Italian scholar of Gregorian chant Don Alberto Turco and others. The uniqueness of the work also consists in the fact that texts in this area of knowledge are translated into Russian for the first time, which often requires much effort in creating new terminology.
The Foundation is also publishing the works of the young Russian composers, particularly the winners of Soli Deo Gloria-2009 composer competition. Besides, the Foundation possesses a number of live and studio recordings of sacred music thanks to the opportunity of sound recording in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary. We continually amplify the existing collection. These recordings, scores and research materials are to become a helping hand for students of music high schools and all admirers of Western sacred music as the Foundation's activity in this area develops further with the support of the Club of Friends of Organ in Russia.
