23 march 2010
On 24 March one of the most popular and loved Russian orchestras “MUSICA VIVA” presents a unique program in our Cathedral. The public will have an opportunity to hear “Stabat Mater” by Antonio Vivaldi and Joseph Haydn together in one concert. The Medieval Latin sequence “Stabat Mater dolorosa” has inspired quite a number of great composers to create a musical masterpiece. The most often-heard is the “Stabat Mater” by G.-B. Pergolesi, while those by Vivaldi and Haydn are rare in concert programs in spite of the fact that they are true gems of the European sacred music. The concert will take place on the threshold of the Holy Week when the Christian world is contemplating the mystery of the Salvation of all the humanity by the Passion and Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The charitable contribution is from 200 to 1000 roubles. Regular listeners are offered discounts
Tickets are available in the Cathedral on the concert day from 6.30 pm.
